Children's Ministry Intern (one year)

Supervisor:   Immediate Supervisor: Associate Pastor, in cooperation with the Senior Pastor & Personnel Ministry Team

Position Description:  The Children’s Ministry Intern position exists for the mutual benefit of Buechel Park Baptist Church and the intern.  BPBC receives an individual who can offer unique skills, interests, and passions to support and enhance our ministry with children and families.  The intern receives an opportunity to learn and practice ministry in a safe and nurturing environment. This person would support the ongoing ministry with children at BPBC by building relationships with children and families, reaching out to diverse community families, modeling a Christ-like lifestyle and attitude, leading and assisting ministry activities, and becoming actively involved in the life of BPBC.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture relationships among the children and families at BPBC.
  • Reach out to families in our community.
  • Coordinate and lead Parents’ Day Out preschool chapel on Mondays or Wednesdays.
  • Coordinate and rotate in as a leader for children’s church.
  • Plan, promote, lead, and enlist additional leadership for Wednesday night children’s activities.
  • Work with Associate Pastor and children’s team on planning and implementing additional fellowship, mission, and learning opportunities for children and families.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings when possible.
  • Work with Associate Pastor to plan and help lead Children-Led Worship.
  • Attend StudentDOT Orientation in May and SelahVie Retreat in August
  • Chaperone and help plan for Kids’ Passport, July 15-18, 2017
  • Other duties and ministry participation as assigned or desired.


  • $650 per month (approximately 12-15 hours a week)
  • Reimbursement for expenses incurred in execution of ministry responsibilities.


  •  A Christian committed to Christ and the church as the Body of Christ, who reflects an authentic commitment to Christ that can be modeled for children and their families.
  • A respect and appreciation for the Baptist expression of faith, although this individual does not need to be Baptist by tradition.
  • A desire to build relationships with diverse families beyond the walls of the church.
  • A desire to work with and learn from children and their families.
  • Ability to work and serve well with others.
  • Ability to manage time, complete assignments, and initiate new ideas and tasks.
  • Willingness to ask questions, seek leadership, take risks, and learn.
  • Preferably an individual who senses a call to ministry and desires a place to follow and process that calling.

Part-time Custodian

Accountability: The position of part time custodian reports to the Senior Pastor and Property Management committee.
The part time custodian is responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of all church property and the general security of the building while on the job. The part time custodian will work alongside the Facilities Manager to meet the needs of the church and must attend weekly staff meetings and turn in a timesheet to the Senior Pastor to approve.
Position type: 20 hours / week
Work Requirements:
This is not intended to be a complete listing, but to indicate the routine and repeating items that need attention.
1. Be responsible for the cleaning of the church facility; original structure, Education Building and gymnasium. This is includes but is not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, straightening and picking up, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and sanitizing.
2. Remove all trash from the building and place it in the dumpster.
3. Maintain the cleanliness of, and provide supplies for all washrooms.
4. Check all rooms used in the previous twenty-four (24) hours and shut off lights and lock doors as needed.
5. Prepare all of the facility for use. This is to include but not be limited to arranging chair and table set-ups, emptying waste baskets, vacuuming rugs, mopping floor surfaces as needed, damp wiping all table and counter surfaces, etc.
6. Immediately report to the Facilities Manager any major leaks, mechanical system failures or major maintenance problems.
The part time custodian will be given a general weekly work schedule by the Senior Pastor along with any changes, indicating when and where regular cleaning will be performed.
The part time custodian is expected to be able to organize and conduct his/her work without continuing reminders. The schedule for upcoming events will be distributed along with any changes on a weekly basis by the church office.
