We took a boatride today on the Sea of Galilee - the weather was
overcast but the trip a delightful view of the area Jesus largely kept
to during his time of preaching, healing and calling people to follow.
I am struck by the difference between what I had imagined as a broad
geographical ministry was in reality quite geographically limited.
From that "limited" beginning has come the Church, our conversion, and
our call to focus on where we are, as limited as that may seem at
times. The call is to faithfulness and to leave the harvest to God.
Traveled to day to Bethsaida, no longer on the Sea of Galilee as it
once was. Jesus was the home of Peter, Andrew and Phillip were from
there, and the place where Jesus fed the multitudes and healing the
blind man. In time, Jesus condemned the city because of it lacking in
response to the gospel...and it remains in ruins.
