Welcome

General Activities

Worship
Worship is the central event in the life of Buechel Park.  We worship together as a faith community on Sunday mornings at 10:45 am. We meet on Wednesdays to fellowship at the table as a family of faith, sharing dinner with one another.  Then we gather in discipleship groups to share in the the process of Spiritual growth and Biblical study.

Group Bible Study
Sunday School takes place each Sunday morning at 9:30 am, with classes for every age and grade.  Special-interest classes and short-term studies are scheduled at various times throughout the year.  Bible studies are held during the week for adults on Wednesday evenings.

Music and Arts
The Music ministry of Buechel Park strives to engage the talents and gifts of congregants in worship and fellowship.  The adult choir meets at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday evenings and is open to anyone who enjoys praising God with song.  Our handbells are open to high school students and adults; they meet on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m.  Missions and music activities are available for children from pre-school through sixth grade on Wednesday evenings. Our Creative Ministries Team has groups for children, youth and adults, with each group setting its own schedule to meet its performance requirements.

Children
Our children are involved in many activites. We have Sunday School on Sunday morning which serves as a time of biblical and discipleship training. Children seven years and younger also participate in Children's Church three Sundays of every month, staying in service on the first Sunday of the month to participate in the celebration of Communion.  The Children's Sermon is a time for all children of the church to come forward and participate in a brief devotion led by our members and staff. On Wednesday evenings, children participate in S.P.A.R.K., a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship curriculum designed to educate and involve children in missions.  Through the rotation, children learn about missionaries overseas and in the U.S. They make crafts and gifts, learn music (instrumental as well as vocal), and also participate in local mission activities. They have this structured time while their parents attend Pathways or Bible study.

Youth
Our youth group is extremely active. Students meet for study and discussion times on both Sunday morning and  Wednesday evening. In addition, the youth calendar contains a number of major events each year, including Dessert Theatre, summer camp, mission trips and retreats. Youth involved are from the seventh to twelfth grades.

Fellowship Supper
Every Wednesday night we gather for our weekly Fellowship Supper at 5:45.  This time of sharing is followed by a time of prayer and inspiration around the tables.  All ages are included in this time of singing, celebration and sharing our concerns.

Forever Young/Keenagers/Senior Nutrition
A highlight for many of our senior adults is our Forever Young fitness and exercise program, which meets three times a week in the gym.  Our senior adults also enjoy the Keenagers group, which provides entertainment and activities, including group travel, for retired persons of any age. Buechel Park Baptist Church provides a senior nutrition program for everyone in the community over the age of 60. Congregants meet for fun, food and fellowship, Monday through Friday 9:00am to 1:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. Meals on wheels provides a hot lunch daily to the homebound.

Women on Mission
This group of ladies meets the second Tuesday of each month.  Small groups meet at 9:30, with the large group meeting at 10:30 and a potluck lunch at noon.

Church-Wide Missions
Our church is actively involved with missions.  We take lunch to a downtown mission, Jeff Street, on Sundays 4 times throughout the year.  We actively collect items and money to take to one of the poorest counties in the US, our Owsley County Project.  We partner with the South East Area Ministry (SEAM)  program that supports those in our community that need assistance.  We also make Thanksgiving Baskets, Create Shoe Box presents, fill Rice Bowls to feed the poor, travel to hurricane damaged areas and work to prepare for rebuilding.

Our congregation is missions minded, aware that we are the hands of God in this community.  We offer our time, resources, and compassion to share God's love with those in need.  If you would like to become involved in helping others locally, nationally, or internationally, there is a place for you to serve at Buechel Park.
