Buechel Park is a progressive church that upholds the traditional Baptist Principles of: - Soul Freedom: priesthood of all believers.
- Bible Freedom: belief in the authority of scripture interpreted through the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
- Church Freedom: autonomy of the local congregation.
- Religious Freedom: separation of church and state.
Buechel Park is a place where faith in God is central. The expression of God's love, forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our existence. Inspirational music, scripture, readings and corporate prayer help focus our attention during worship. Thought-provoking sermons encourage worshippers in their personal journeys of faith and service.
Buechel Park is an inclusive church that reaches out to all members of the community. We affirm any person's call to lay or vocational ministry. Buechel Park has been a pioneer in its support of the ordination of women as deacons and ministers.
The church works with other communities of Baptists through its membership in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Members of Buechel Park were present in 1991 when the Fellowship began and continue to be strong supporters of its purposes. We also play an active role in the leadership of the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship. Although the church is no longer affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (since 2001), we remain contributing members of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and Long Run Association. Buechel Park is a charter member of the South East Area Ministries and the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky in Lexington.
Buechel Park is a mission-minded congregation. In the Buechel area, we support the South East Area Ministries, which addresses the needs of people in the 40218 and 40220 ZIP code areas. In the inner city, we actively work with the Jefferson Street Mission at Liberty congregation in ministering to the needs of homeless persons. Members of Buechel Park contribute to the needs of poverty-stricken families in Eastern Kentucky through Partners in Hope, a program of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship.
The church encourages spiritual growth through Sunday morning bible study for children, youth and adults. Further discipleship training takes place on Wednesday evening. A variety of support and spiritual enrichment programs are offered during the year. Music and Mission programs also occur weekly.
Buechel Park is a caring community of faith. Close Christian relationships can be formed in a variety of small groups and church-wide activities. Pastoral care is a strength of our ministerial staff. Deacons and shepherds assist the pastor in family ministry.
